DISCO PAM PAM by Kevin Tosca

We here at Bateau are incredibly excited to bring this book into the world of things. We have loved the work of Kevin Tosca since the days we brought the Bateau Lit Mag to Maine and began this whole quixotic journey of literary press / literary magazine publishing. Sometimes you come across a writer and you know right away that you are in it for the long haul with them and that you will orbit this writer until they or you run out of juice. Well, Bateau still has juice & Bateau is in it for the long haul with Kevin Tosca.

Tibet

The streets were melting and the people were burning, their bodies and heads engulfed in flames. The ones not burning were sweating but all of them were hugging themselves and stomping around as if it were the darkest depths of winter, were dressed for this winter, wrapped in ludicrous layers when all Zeus wanted was pond, lake, pool, breeze, shade—some refreshing shelter—but everywhere he went was the hot and the heat and the sweat of the people passing out and burning and complaining about how fucking frozen they were.

Zeus, doubting his sanity, finally reached out and touched one of them. Then he forced himself to touch another, and another, and they were cold, cold like the dead.

Nobody was lying, yet somebody was wrong.
